Join ASCENT author, Michelle Rasmussen as she takes a closer look at Chapter 2: "Connecting to Geospatial Data" from the Autodesk Official Training Guide, Civil 3D 2014 for Surveyors.


The Planning and Analysis workspace within the AutoCAD Civil 3D software provides tools to help plan projects by allowing you to connect to GIS data sources. This webcast focuses on this Planning and Analysis workspace to start a new drawing, assign a coordinate system, and connect to GIS data sources. The webcast will also include creating a surface from an ESRI Shape file and draping an image over it.

Meet The Author: Michelle Rasmussen


MichelleA specialist in the civil engineering industry, Michelle is a Senior Instructional Designer with ASCENT and is the first Autodesk® Certified Instructor (ACI) and Evaluator (ACE) worldwide for Civil 3D. Michelle's comprehensive Autodesk Land Desktop and AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge is supplemented with a strong understanding of other Autodesk technologies, document management, hardware, and networking. Michelle started in the Air Force working in the Civil Engineering unit as a surveyor, designer, and construction manager. Her primary responsibility was to ensure proper grading of missile sites and tracking of base infrastructure.


Michelle has also served two years as an advisor to Autodesk on the Autodesk Authorized Training Center Advisory Board where she served as Chair and Vice Chair. In her role, she advised Autodesk and other training centers how to make both the product and the product training more effective for end users. Michelle has taught at Autodesk University for multiple years and has ranked in the top 1/3 of all instructors there.
